Push Buttons For Slot Machines

Support VoyForums

Feb 19, 2015  There is a debate amongst some slot machine players. Can a player stop the reels on a slot machine to control the outcome? For example, suppose. The penny denomination has made the lowest-returning slots the most popular on the floor By Frank Legato Ever since the first issue of Casino Player was published in 1988, this magazine has directed players to the fairest gambles—meaning the best odds and highest returns—on the casino floor. Gambler Jan Flato supplied the money that went into the Double Top Dollar slot machine at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. But the woman who was nuzzling up to him pushed the button.

I am going to really take a shot in the dark on this one..I believe your machine is an upright white machine built in 1999. If that is correct you will find the self test switch hidden behind the power switch. Let me know if that's it.

You are 100% right, it is behind the power switch and the machine does have a white cabinet. No one would ever see it had they not had the knowledge. Thanks so much! I am told to up the pay % all I need is a higher pay reel chip for the game; no need for set chip etc..but 1st to i.d. the current chip number. Thanks again, it Haywires often on the 'wild' Symbols but not too much on mixed bars etc- would like to increase a little action on it. Thanks! Bob

No problem..now in order to determine the chip number push that button a few times until the number 4 appears in the coins played field. Then on the winner paid and credits LED you will see some numbers. The four digit number that starts with 4XXX or 8XXX is your reel chip number. From there you can check the IGT bible for the par sheet info and payback percentage. If your not sure where to find that e-mail me directly.

After a player has made up his/her mind which video poker game to play, he/she needs to insert either money in the coin slot, or a cash ticket in the bill validator. In order to play the game selected, a variety of buttons on the machine are to be used.

”Bet One Credit”, ”Bet Max” buttons

Let us discuss buttons in the order, which a player needs to use them. Once a deposit has been made to start the game, the player needs to press one of two buttons available – ”Bet One Credit” or ”Bet Max”.

The ”Bet One Credit” button is usually positioned underneath the screen, as, in many cases, it is the second button from the left. This button is to be pressed one time for every coin the player intends to bet. By using this button, he/she is able to bet from one coin to the maximum number of coins allowed in this particular game. After that the player needs to push the ”Deal/Draw” button in order to view his/her cards.

It is worth noting that various buttons are labeled differently from one machine to another. Newer machines are being manufactured with a little bit different names on their controls. However, this should not be a cause for worries, as no matter the name used, the buttons will have the same function and will be positioned at the same location on different machines.

The ”Bet Max” button is to be used only if the player intends to bet the maximum number of coins. It is usually positioned second from the right on the machine. Before pressing this button, it is better for the player to familiarize himself/herself with the maximum coins allowed for the respective video poker game. If, indeed, the player wishes to bet the maximum number of coins possible, it is sufficient to simply push the ”Bet Max” button. In some cases, this button may be labeled as ”Play Max Credits” or ”Play Five Credits”. Yet, examining the pay table for the particular game is recommended, because most machines have up to 5 coins as a maximum bet, while other machines (with quarter denominations) may have up to 10 and even up to 20 coins as a maximum bet.

Once the ”Bet Max” button has been pressed, the cards will be dealt and their images will be displayed on the machine's screen. In this case there is no need to use the ”Deal/Draw” button.

Something else we should note is, that after one of the two buttons have been pushed, the player will not be able to make changes to his/her bet.

”Hold/Cancel” buttons

At times, the player may encounter a hard-to-hold button on a machine. In such a case, he/she needs to make sure that the correct cards are being held (”HELD” will be visualized above or below every card the player is willing to keep).

After the cards have been dealt and if there is a winning hand combination, the latter and the number of coins earned will be pinpointed on the payout table on the screen. Novice players should better be aware of the payout table for the respective game, so that they do not make the mistake of discarding a high-ranking winning combination.

In case there is no winning hand combination, or there is a low-ranking winning combination and the player believes he/she can draw a higher-ranking hand, here is what can be done: the player can select to hold particular cards and replace other cards by pressing the Hold/Cancel buttons. The latter are positioned underneath the machine's screen, with one button being under each of the five cards. By pressing one of these buttons, the respective card will be held. In case the player wishes to remove a card, he/she will not press the button below it. If the video poker machine is of a touch-screen type, the player may operate it either as we mentioned above, or by touching the cards on the screen itself. After the player has made a decision, a quick check of the screen is recommended, whether ”HELD” is visualized either above or below each card he/she is willing to hold.

This button is located underneath the screen and by pressing it, the player can receive his/her first hand. The button can also be used after the player has selected which cards he/she wishes to keep. Star casino rocky horror picture show. In this case he/she will view his/her final hand on the screen. If a winning hand combination is drawn, the latter and the amount of coins earned will be pinpointed on the payout table on the screen.

In case the player is willing to begin another game and use the same amount he bet during the first play, he/she can do that by pushing the Deal/Draw button one more time. This way his/her new hand will be visualized on the screen.

In case the player is willing to modify the amount of the bet for the new game, he/she can use either the Bet Max button, or the Bet One Credit button.

It is important to note that when playing for the first time on a machine, the player should set the amount of his/her bet by pressing either the Bet One Credit or the Bet Max button. If, instead, he/she pushes the Deal/Draw button, the player will repeat the bet, that was placed by the last person who used the machine.

”Cash Out” button

Once the player has finished his/her game and does not intend to begin a new one, he/she needs to press the Cash Out button (the first button on the left positioned underneath the screen). If playing on older models, the coins will drop into a tray, which is to be found below the screen. If playing on newer ticket-in ticket-out machines (TITO), the latter will dispense a cash ticket (quicket). If the machine is of a touch-screen type, a ”Cash Out” message will pop up after the Cash Out button has been pressed. Thus, the player needs to simply touch this message.

At times, after pressing the Cash Out button, a ”Call Attendant” message will pop up on the screen. This occurs, when the video poker machine has exhausted the paper, or when the player is trying to cash out a larger amount than the one set by the casino. If it turns out to be the case with the paper, a member of the casino personnel will come and fill the ticket dispenser. If it turns out to be the second case, the machine's candle will produce flashes, which will indicate that the requested amount must be paid by hand.

”Change/Call Attendant” button

On newer models of machines this button is labeled as ”Change”. It is usually positioned on the left side of the video poker machine underneath the screen and right above the Bet One Credit button. In many cases the button is red in color and if pushed, the top part of the machine's candle will produce flashes, which will indicate the player is in need of service. This button may be used when the player is in need of change, of a mechanic, of a drink or any other type of service.
